Willard Parks and Recreation seeks grants throughout the entire year! Here is an update on some grant for the City of Willard Parks Department. Willard Parks and Recreation has been awarded a 2008 National Recreation & Parks Association / USA Football Youth Football Grant.The grant is in the amount of $2500. The grant will be used for Willard’s 2009 Flag Football League. These funds will help purchase the necessary items to operate the league. Willard applied for the grant in late October. Willard Parks and Recreation has applied for a grant from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) for $8000 for Shade Structures to go over the bleachers on the baseball/softball complex. If awarded, these structures will be installed in the fall of 2009. For more information please call Kevin McDonald at (417)742-2262. ________________________________________
U.S Soccer Foundation Grant: Willard Parks and Recreation has been awarded a grant in the amount of $4000 from the US Soccer Foundation. This grant was applied for last October. The money will be used to benefit the Willard Soccer Program and the opening of the new Willard Highline Soccer Park. Willard was one of 27 communities selected nation wide and one of two communities selected in Missouri to receive the grant. What is the US Soccer Foundation? The U.S. Soccer Foundation was established in 1995 to manage the surplus funds generated by the 1994 FIFA World Cup held in the United States. Under the guidance of its Board of Directors, the Foundation has taken a leading role in supporting the continuous development of the sport at all levels. $51 million in grants, financial support and loans have been made to help develop coaches, players and referees, especially those in economically disadvantaged urban areas. _______________________________________ Willard Parks and Recreation has applied for a grant from the Baseball Tomorrows Fund. The amount applied for is $34668.98. The grant is through Major League Baseball. If awarded we will receive: Grant winners will be announced in the spring 2009. If awarded, this grant will provide uniforms and proper equipment for our teams.
